Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (1931–2015) was one of India's most beloved scientists, educators, and visionaries. Born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, he rose from humble beginnings to become a key figure in India’s space and missile programs. As a scientist at ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation), he played a vital role in developing India’s first satellite launch vehicle and spearheaded the Agni and Prithvi missile programs, earning him the title "Missile Man of India." In 2002, he became the 11th President of India, serving with humility and dedication. He was known as the "People’s President" for his deep connection with students and youth, inspiring them to dream big and contribute to nation-building. Even after his presidency, Dr. Kalam remained committed to education and innovation, delivering lectures and writing books like "Wings of Fire," "Ignited Minds," and "India 2020." On July 27, 2015, he passed away while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, perseverance, and inspiration. His life continues to motivate millions to pursue science, innovation, and service to the nation.
